It seems fitting to do this week's Folksy Friday on vintage florals! Click on the link below each image to visit the seller's shop. Scroll further down for the lovely vintage floral wallpapers from Belsay Hall which I posted yesterday!
Just wanted to share these beautiful vintage wallpapers I found at Belsay Hall. Although much of the downstairs is stripped back to bare stone, some of the original wallpapers upstairs remain. Floral and faded...gorgeous.
I spent a very relaxing afternoon at Belsay Hall's Christmas gift fair today. I'd like to feature the work of Textile designer, Catherine Howard, whose stall looked rather yummy! Catherine had an assortment of goodies on her table, including her tailored waistcoats and some highly decorative Christmas tree baubles. Catherine runs Textile workshops here in the North East and is quite an inspiration when it comes to surface decoration, embroidery and print techniques! She teaches Textile Design and has also given talks for the Embroiderer's Guild. To contact her and see more of her work visit www.catherinehowarddesigns.com

I haven't blogged for a while having been quite busy helping out with costumes for the school production. It seems fitting then, that my (rather late!) Folksy Friday is based on The Wizard of Oz! Click on the link below each picture to visit the seller's shop.
I must do my tax return...I must do my tax return...I must...oh heck, I think I'll just blog instead! Here is a little altered page I did recently, using a page from a rather lovely old book. Tynemouth market is a great place to source old, cheap books to use as sketchbooks. It's held every weekend on Tynemouth metro station, a 20min metro ride from Newcastle city centre. Flea market bliss!
I've been busy recently as it's the start of the new term but thought I would share these sketchbook pages I have been working on, in response to a visit to the Alnwick Garden (including some rubbings from old headstones).
I've been preparing for the new school year this week and so it seems fitting that this week my Folksy Friday theme is "Back to School". Click on the link below each item to visit the seller's page...enjoy!
I spent a very relaxing day in Chester with my family last weekend; we took our little boy out in a rowing boat for the first time. I think he enjoyed himself, we were mostly entertained by his dad and his uncle making fun of each other's rowing skills (or lack of!). It appears you never outgrow sibling rivalry!
Anyway, I did find a lovely little shop called Harriet and Dee. They are a greeting card specialist and stocked some wonderful cards (I especially liked Cinnamon Aitch's range) and they also stocked gift/ home wares. I hovered around the Orla Keily home range for a while, adding items to my mental wish list and finally bought some gift wrap which features the work of Madeleine Floyd. I just love her birds drawings and her drawing style!
I've recently been stocking my online shop, as it's been neglected for a few months, while I was working on other freelance projects. I have a Folksy shop and an Etsy shop; here are the links if you'd like to take a look!
